All around us we find things that function only one way. It does not matter how much we want or how hard we try to change it. Rivers flow one way. The earth rotates one way. The sun rises one way. A diode only allows current to flow, you got it, one way. Cars go one way down there respective paths and should it get violated people get hurt and even killed. People do not question these as ‘just the way it is’. Why is it so hard, that amongst all the things that function one way, for people to accept that God’s standards about life on earth and eternity are unchangeable? Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” The Bible is very clear that God has established only one way to get to Heaven. There is nothing to question. I do not believe this because I made it up. I do not believe it because that is how I would have done it if I were in charge. No! It was established as a standard long before any of us were ever born. God gave us His standards in the Bible so that we would have no excuse for going our own way when we stand before Him and give an account of our life. God is the standard and what He sets as a standard can not be changed, whether it is about salvation, or stealing, lying, marriage, sexual immorality. Even in the natural, when one violates the ‘one way’ path that God has set, people get hurt and even sometimes die. Whether it is getting hurt emotionally or physically because of a bad relationship, or dying from a sexually transmitted disease or getting killed because you were running from the law. How much more should we be diligent and take to heart the one way standards as it relates spiritually and eternally. His standards are not up for debate. Underwear can only be put on one way. If you try to do it a different way, it just will not look right and will not accomplish its intended purpose. Ohhhh! That phrase, ‘intended purpose’. Everything has an intended purpose, but everything can also be perverted and twisted. Guns were invented to protect and provide for. Cars are made to get us from point ‘A’ to ‘B’ quicker and with many conveniences. But all of these can be misused to bring harm and, with these choices, there are consequences for abusing the intended purpose which comes out of selfishness. Pride! Ohhh! And that word ‘pride’, that caused the fall of Satan, who was once an angel of light, and caused the fall of Adam & Eve and brought about the first murder in the history of mankind, by Cain, is still the #1 thing, and will always be the #1 thing, that creates division amongst men, but more importantly, separates us from God. It keeps us from living out the intended purpose that God has for us. Pride thinks about what ‘self’ wants and does not care what others think. Pride is what causes man to think that there are many ways, especially the way that we want, to get to heaven, to be in fellowship with God.

God is not ‘politically correct’ about anything. He is holy in all He is and does. He does not need acceptance or guidance by man and his thoughts. The Bible says that God’s ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than ours. Romans 14:17 says, “for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” God is a sole distributor. He does not distribute His goods to other gods for them to give away as they wish. You want the assurance of eternal salvation? You want peace and joy? You need to go to the source of it. God is a ‘one way’ God and it’s His way or no way. It is actually liberating to live within the boundaries that God has set up. Man has always made up his own things, beliefs and doctrines. Why, would mortal man trust in the futility of their minds when it changes all the time as with the winds? God’s ‘one way’ standards really protect and truly lead to the abundant life that is in Christ Jesus and Him alone. Don’t let your pride rob you of your destiny and intended purpose in God. James 4:6 says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. It does not matter what you are or have been involved with or what standards you have tried to change in your life to satisfy your own wants. God loves you!! Will you humble your self to Him? Will you trust Him and His ways? But, in whatever you choose, live it with all you have. Passion! Deep conviction! Wholehearted!
