It is hard to live a life of uncertainty because we want to know everything that is going to happen and we
want to be in control of it. We try and control our health, and yet no amount of insurance will give you certainty about your health. You may be uncertain whether you will be able to pay your bills or not, which puts strain on your family relationships. Being uncertain takes away the peace and the confidence that we need in life. God didn’t create us to live out of uncertainties and yet most of the world does. What would be the opposite of living in a world that is full of uncertainties? You probably guessed it right. It is living with certainty. You say, “Well, that sounds great, Jason, if only it could be true.” Well, it is true-for the one who chooses to walk and live by faith. The Bible says in Hebrews 10:38, “Now the just shall live by faith…” and in Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please God”. In Luke 1:37 it says, “For with God nothing will be impossible”. So, to please God, which is to trust Him in all things and obey Him in all things, we must have faith. If you are just, meaning, those that have been made righteous before God through the blood of Jesus, you shall live by faith. There is no other option. It is either by faith that you live for God or you’re not living for Him. To live for God, in God and through God is to say that all things are possible because, remember, with God all things are possible. Therefore, you can live your life with certainty. In the world’s way of living, we can’t change the weather, but Jesus, whom we abide in and He in us, stood up in the boat on that stormy night and said, ‘Peace be still’ to the wind and waves and the storm ceased. There are other places in the Bible where the weather was changed because someone walked by faith. I have had times where there was an event going on outside and I spoke to the weather, and at other times with other people, and it changed and did not interrupt the event. One time I was playing with a Christian band outside and there was some threatening weather coming. We prayed against it and saw the clouds part around us and later we saw on a radar that we were a tiny speck that wasn’t being affected by the storm. It was solid, heavy storms all around us. Now, take paying your bills again. If you live with uncertainty about them, then you are trusting in your own ability to meet them. You ask, ‘well, how do I live with certainty’. You need to be certain that, if you are a child of God, God will meet your needs that you have just as He promised in His word. There is a world of possibilities out there that God is eager to do for you if you will just choose to trust Him and be certain. It is up to you what side you are going to choose. Choosing to walk by faith, which is the only way we can live for God, is to choose the ‘High Road’. The ‘High Road’ is where the peace and confidence of our life is not affected by the circumstances around us. To take the low road is to be uncertain and will cause you to be controlled by your circumstances. The ‘High Road’ will cause you to live in the realm of possibilities, yes, even the unimaginable. Jesus was not surprised when the woman who had an issue of blood reached out and touched the hem of His garment and was healed after she said in her heart, ‘If only I could touch His garment, I will be healed’. It wasn’t the garment that healed her because many people were touching Jesus. It was her faith that believed in the possibilities of the impossible with God. Hebrews 11 refers to faith as believing in the things that you can’t see. Jesus expects us to live like that, but it takes us living by faith, taking the ‘High Road’. Until we meet up again, I pray you choose to live in the realm of possibilities. Take the ‘High Road’---the high road of ‘Faith’.
